I thought I'd start by talking about what my family is living right now.
My daughter just started kindergarten a few days ago (seems like days, but she's actually in her second week!) and my son will be starting preschool tomorrow. I decided this was a good topic to kick things off because it has really illustrated to me how quickly time goes by and how important it is to cherish all those firsts along the way. I'm so happy that I got out the camera and took pics/video of special moments in my kids' lives. Now that they are getting older, I have more time to look back on those moments and cry like a big baby.
I know it's tough when they are little to grab the camera at every moment, but those moments will be gone before you know it.
I will never forget my daughter's first days at each of her schools but with the videos and pictures on my computer, I can relive those days and share them with friends and family any time.
(If you would like to see the video of Bella's first school days, drop me a line and I'll get you a copy of her slideshow. I'd post it here, but it has copyrighted music in the background.)
All you co-authors, tell us about your little one(s) firsts that you will never forget.
I'm glad you take all of those pictures! Being separated from everyone really makes you miss all of those moments, and I sure have missed a lot. I still remember Bella running around, being chubby, chewing on frozen teething rings, coercing me into "putting my nose in her eye....right NOW!" I remember Domenic running around, learning things and being super shy! He's still pretty shy, but he's the sweetest little guy I've ever met! I've got a picture of each of my precious little Neices and Nephews posted on my fridge, and I go in there and give them kisses all the time. Anyway, I digress. I can still remember when you were sitting on the couch with Mommy, and you guys broke the news to me (that I was gonna be an Uncle)...You said something like, "Nick, you know __________(some cat that was always pregnant)...well, I'm a lot like she is all the time." At first, I thought you meant you were part cat, which was super awesome. Then, I found out that you were making bella in there...and I was so happy! I'm so glad that you asked me to be her Godfather! It meant so very much, it really did, and it still does. It breaks my heart every time I have to go, but it's good to know that they still remember me when I come home, and it's really good that you give me back so many of the memories that the Air Force has stolen from me with the pictures you take. I would be there for everything.
